Youngsters and oldies
Do you remember when you were a kid? I do and some of the music that we listened to was really rock'in. The question is, are the oldies still popular with the kids of today? I think so, and all the youth I know still love those songs. However, it was a new age of music when the oldies came out. Girls still wore bobby socks and poodle skirts and boys like to slick back their hair. Oh how times have changed since then. Can you still name some of those old tunes and who performed them?
Remember Neil Diamonds -Sweet Caroline, or how about Aretha Franklin and her famous song," Respect", now that's a good one. I remember singing along with it and the youth of today sing along as well. Then you had some like "I'm a Believer by The Monkeys," Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. And who can forget "Fun Fun Fun" by The Beach Boys. Everyone loves the Beach Boy's. They have become an icon for the youth of today.
However, why are the oldies loved so much buy the youth of today? What is it about that style of music that just keeps fresh and new even though they are from another era? Maybe it's that beat that you just can't get out of your head once you have listened to the song. Maybe it is the catchy lyrics, that grab onto you like glue because they tell you what life was like back then and you can relate to their time in life.
Are Oldies still popular young people today. Yes they certainly are. It is somewhat like going to a restaurant and ordering your favorite food. Music just feeds the soul and certain lyrics inspire us. And those Oldies love songs. They were so mushy and relaxing. You could close your eyes and just feel the vibes from the beat and words. They had words, told stories, and made love to your feelings. So, it's ok to be young and still love the oldies because it's like your parents, their old, but we still love them. Just go with what makes you happy.
There are some people that believe that the youth of today are looking for something more than just, loud, repetitive, and angry music. Their looking for music that talks to them, gives them happy feelings, teaches a moral, and most of all makes since. So why not like the oldies. Kids of today want to do what they like best not what others feel they should do. Music with a purpose. Could be the reason that kids still love the oldies.
Let's not forget that kids of today love to dance. However, a lot of the music of today is really not good dancing music played by DJ's. There is lots of offbeat syncopation, which makes it hard to follow the rhythm. Many of the tunes of today change rhythm patterns several times during a song. There by, making it awkward to dance. But are the oldies still popular? Yes. Every new generation hears those songs for the first time and its new and fresh to them. Music with a purpose. It has a positive effect on the kids of today.
So, let's listen to our oldies and hear it for the first time as a new and really feel good sort of songs. Remember those songs like, "Proud Mary," telling you to be who you are, or how about "Good Vibrations?" Who doesn't feel good when you hear that song. And for those lover's out there, songs like "How Sweet it Is to be Loved by You." So, are the oldies still popular with the young people today? I Think so!
